Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Scrobblie app ("Application") for iPhone and iPad, created by Jacob Pang ("Service Provider"). The Application is offered as a Freemium service, intended for use "AS IS".
Scrobblie is built privacy-first. Your Last.fm credentials, scrobble history, and app data are kept on your device. Scrobblie does not run advertising, behavioral analytics, or third-party tracking inside the Application.
What stays on your device
The following is stored locally on your device and is not sent to Scrobblie as a stored account profile or listening history:
- Your Last.fm sign-in credentials, stored using the operating system's protected credential storage.
- Your local scrobble history, listening stats, and any artwork the Application caches.
- Your app preferences and settings.
If you enable iCloud sync, your scrobble history is synced through your personal iCloud account. Scrobblie does not have access to your iCloud data.
Last.fm
When you sign in to Last.fm through Scrobblie, the Application authenticates with Last.fm directly using your credentials. Your scrobbles, loved-track actions, and reads of your Last.fm profile, stats, charts, and listening history are exchanged between your device and Last.fm under your own Last.fm account. Scrobblie does not store this on its own servers. This information is governed by Last.fm's own privacy policy. Scrobblie is not affiliated with Last.fm.
Push notifications and background features
Scrobblie uses Apple's push notification system and a small backend service to deliver Live Activity updates and support background scrobbling. To make this work, Apple-issued push notification tokens and the limited now-playing information needed to display a Live Activity update may pass through this service so the update can be sent back to your own device.
This service does not receive your Last.fm password or your full Last.fm history, does not build a listening profile, and is not used for analytics, advertising, or tracking. Push notification tokens are kept only as long as needed to deliver notifications and are routinely cleared when they expire, become invalid, or are no longer active.
Like any internet service, the infrastructure that hosts this backend may briefly process standard network information, such as IP addresses, to route requests and maintain security. This is not used to identify, profile, or track you.
Microphone
If you grant microphone permission and use Microphone Mode, Scrobblie uses Apple's music recognition system to identify songs playing around you. Scrobblie does not record, store, or send raw microphone audio to Scrobblie's servers.
What Scrobblie does not do
- No behavioral analytics or third-party tracking SDKs inside the Application.
- No ads, no data shared with advertising networks, no sale or trade of your information.
- No location tracking, no AI or machine learning used to profile you.
Third parties
Scrobblie relies on Last.fm for scrobbling, Apple for system features such as push notifications, music recognition, music playback integration, purchases, and iCloud sync, and standard infrastructure providers used to host the backend service described above. Each handles information only as needed to provide its part of the service.
Scrobblie may also receive aggregated, anonymized diagnostic reports, such as crash and performance information, through Apple's standard diagnostic framework. This is used solely to improve stability and is not linked to your identity.
Disclosure
Scrobblie may disclose information only as required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or similar legal process, or when Scrobblie believes in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect rights, protect safety, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
Opt-out and data deletion
You can stop Scrobblie from sending new scrobbles to Last.fm by signing out of Last.fm inside the app. You can also turn off optional features such as iCloud sync, Live Activities, push notifications, and Microphone Mode in the app or system settings, or uninstall the Application.
Scrobblie does not maintain a user account database. Push notification tokens are not linked to your identity and are automatically removed when they expire, are no longer valid, or have not been seen recently. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].
Children
The Application is not directed to children under 13, and Scrobblie does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the Application, please contact [email protected]. You must be at least 16 years old to consent to the processing of your information in your country, although in some jurisdictions a parent or guardian may consent on your behalf.
Security
Scrobblie takes reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural measures to safeguard the limited information described above. No system is perfectly secure, but Scrobblie is designed so that the most sensitive information, your Last.fm credentials and local listening history, stays on your device except when you choose to use features that send information to Last.fm, Apple, or back to your own device through the backend service described above.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Scrobblie will notify you of changes by updating this page. Continued use of the Application after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Your consent
By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy.
