Getting started
What is Scrobblie?
Scrobblie is a Last.fm scrobbler for iPhone and iPad. It sends every track you play to your Last.fm profile so your listening history, weekly charts, and recommendations stay complete.
It's designed to feel at home on iOS, with Lock Screen Live Activities, Dynamic Island, widgets, and Shortcuts all included.
Which iPhones and iPads does it run on?
Scrobblie requires iOS 26 or later and runs on iPhone and iPad. It's a universal app, so one purchase covers both.
How do I sign in?
Open Scrobblie, tap Sign in with Last.fm, and enter your Last.fm username and password. Your password is sent securely to Last.fm and is never stored on your device.
If you don't have a Last.fm account yet, create one free at last.fm/join.
Is Scrobblie free?
Yes. Scrobblie is free to download and use. The free tier includes:
- Up to 175 scrobbles per week, resetting every Sunday (varies by your device's region)
- Apple Music scrobbling
- Manual Microphone Mode matching
- Loved tracks, history, and stats
- Live Activities and widgets
Scrobblie Pro unlocks unlimited scrobbles, automatic matching in Microphone Mode, and continuous background listening. You can subscribe from the Settings → Scrobblie Pro screen in the app.
Music sources
Does Scrobblie support Apple Music?
Yes. Scrobblie scrobbles everything that plays through the Apple Music app: Apple Music subscriptions, your iTunes library, Apple Music Classical, and any audio you've added to the Music app. No extra setup needed beyond granting Media Library permission.
Does it work with Spotify, YouTube Music, or Tidal?
Not directly. Apple doesn't allow third-party apps to read playback from other music apps on iOS, so Scrobblie can't see what's playing inside Spotify or Tidal.
You can still scrobble those sources using Microphone Mode: switch to the microphone tab and Scrobblie will identify whatever is playing nearby and scrobble it to Last.fm.
What is Microphone Mode?
Microphone Mode lets Scrobblie identify music playing around you and scrobble it to Last.fm. Tap a match to send it.
With Scrobblie Pro, Auto Match keeps listening continuously and scrobbles each new track automatically after your chosen delay.
Why does Scrobblie need microphone access?
Microphone access is required for Microphone Mode. Scrobblie only listens while Microphone Mode is active (or when Auto Match is running), and audio is never recorded, stored, or sent to Scrobblie.
Can I import my old Last.fm scrobbles?
Your scrobble history already lives on Last.fm. Scrobblie reads and displays it in the Profile tab (top tracks, weekly charts, loved tracks, and more) without needing to import anything locally.
Will Scrobblie support ListenBrainz, Libre.fm, Maloja, Koito, Rocksky, or Teal.fm?
Possibly, down the road. We may add support for other scrobbling services like ListenBrainz, Libre.fm, Maloja, Koito, Rocksky, or Teal.fm in the future, but right now we're focused on perfecting the Last.fm experience first.
If there's a specific service you'd like to see, let us know at [email protected].
How scrobbling works
When does a track get scrobbled?
Last.fm's rules require a track to be longer than 30 seconds and to have played for at least half its length (or for a fixed number of seconds, whichever is reached first). Scrobblie honours those rules by default.
You can adjust the scrobble delay (15 s or 30 s) in Settings → Now Playing.
Why didn't a scrobble show up on Last.fm?
A few common reasons:
- The track was under 30 seconds or you skipped before the halfway point.
- You hit your free-tier weekly quota (175). Dropped scrobbles are listed in Settings → Queue.
- You have no internet, in which case the scrobble is queued and retried automatically.
- Last.fm itself is slow to update; it usually appears within a minute or two.
Every scrobble Scrobblie records is visible in the in-app History. If it shows there but not on Last.fm, let us know.
Does background scrobbling really work on iOS?
Yes. Scrobblie keeps working in the background and catches up on anything iOS delays the next time you open the app, so your Last.fm profile stays complete.
One thing to know: force-quitting Scrobblie from the App Switcher stops all background delivery (that's an Apple-wide rule). For uninterrupted scrobbling, just leave the app alive in the background.
Can I edit or delete a scrobble?
Scrobblie's History tab lets you delete local entries and re-scrobble tracks. To remove a scrobble from Last.fm itself, you need to do it on the Last.fm website. The Last.fm API doesn't allow third-party apps to delete scrobbles.
Do loved tracks sync to Apple Music?
Yes. When you love or unlove a track in Scrobblie, it's written to Last.fm and, where possible, mirrored to Apple Music's ratings as well. Last.fm is authoritative. Apple Music sync is best-effort and only applies when an exact catalog match is found.
Scrobblie Pro
What do I get with Pro?
- Unlimited scrobbles. No weekly cap.
- Auto Match. Continuous matching in Microphone Mode with automatic scrobbling.
- Background listening. Keep Microphone Mode active while the app is backgrounded.
All core features (Apple Music scrobbling, manual Microphone Mode, history, stats, loved tracks, Live Activities, widgets) stay free forever.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Scrobblie Pro is an Apple-managed subscription. Manage it anytime in Settings app → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad. Cancelling keeps Pro active until the end of your current billing period.
I paid on another device. How do I restore Pro?
Open Scrobblie, go to Settings → Scrobblie Pro, and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID that purchased the subscription.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store subscriptions are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, pick the Scrobblie charge, and follow Apple's refund flow.
Lock Screen & widgets
My Live Activity isn't showing up. What do I do?
Check the following:
- Make sure Live Activities are enabled in iOS Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Live Activities and in iOS Settings → Scrobblie → Allow Live Activities.
- Inside Scrobblie, go to Settings → Now Playing and confirm Live Activity is on.
- Live Activities only appear while music is actively playing. They dismiss automatically after the track ends or after a period of inactivity.
Does Scrobblie have a Control Center widget?
Yes. On iOS 26, long-press Control Center, tap Add a Control, and choose Scrobblie's Microphone Mode toggle. You can also add Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets to keep your recent scrobbles visible.
Privacy & data
What data does Scrobblie collect?
Scrobblie keeps your Last.fm credentials secure on your device and stores your listening history and artwork locally. It only communicates with services needed to scrobble and identify music.
There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no user tracking. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
Is my Last.fm password stored?
No. Scrobblie uses your password only to sign you in, then discards it. Your Last.fm credentials are kept securely on your device.
How do I delete my data?
Sign out in Settings → Account → Sign out to clear your Last.fm credentials. Use Settings → History → Delete All History to wipe the local scrobble history. Deleting Scrobblie from your device removes everything it stores locally.
Scrobbles already sent to Last.fm live on Last.fm's servers. Manage or delete them from the Last.fm website.
Troubleshooting
Apple Music plays but nothing scrobbles.
Open Scrobblie and confirm you're signed in (Settings → Account). If the app is signed in but Now Playing is empty while Apple Music is playing, open iOS Settings → Scrobblie and make sure Media & Apple Music access is granted.
Microphone Mode isn't finding anything.
It needs a fairly clean signal. Try moving closer to the source, turning up the volume slightly, and giving it 10–15 seconds per attempt. Also confirm iOS Settings → Scrobblie → Microphone is enabled.
Scrobblie says "quota reached". What does that mean?
You've used all 175 of your weekly free scrobbles. They reset every Sunday (the exact day varies by your device's region). Upgrade to Scrobblie Pro for unlimited scrobbles, or wait for the reset.
Is there a Mac or Android version?
Not currently. Scrobblie is an iOS-native app that relies on Apple-only technologies like Live Activities and Dynamic Island. A Mac or visionOS release might happen in the future; Android isn't on the roadmap.
